Why I Love This Recipe

Ready in under 45 minutes this simple chicken recipe is perfect for family dinners, cookouts, barbecues, and potlucks. It travels well to other events and leftovers reheat beautifully in the oven!

This 5 ingredient recipe is an easy way to spice up your weekly meal rotation! Oven baked Sticky Sweet BBQ Drumsticks are tender, juicy and flavor packed. While the coating does contain hot sauce, it isn't overly spicy. The addition of hot sauce simply provides an extra dimension of flavor that takes this recipe from good to craveworthy!

My favorite ingredients to use

Here the link to my sweet and spicy 18-Minute Paleo BBQ Sauce With Molasses. It is delicious, thick, and as the name says, can be made in only 18 minutes! That being said, if you prefer this meal even quicker use your favorite store brought brand.

Bonne Maman makes my favorite flavor of orange marmalade. Smucker's also makes a Pure Orange Marmalade and a Natural Orange Marmalade that are free of high fructose corn syrup, preservatives and artificial colors.

Moreover, my favorite hot sauce is Frank's RedHot. It not only brings the heat, but is really flavorful. Feel free to substitute your favorite hot sauce.

Nutritional info caveat

Keep in mind, the nutritional information is assuming every drop of the sauce is eaten with no waste. This of course doesn't happen as some of it drips off while cooking.

How to reheat

Additionally, Sticky Sweet BBQ Drumsticks reheat nicely. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then place chicken legs on a baking sheet and heat for 8-10 minutes until warmed through.

Storage Tips

Finally, this recipe can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Equipment

  • 1 large rimmed baking sheet
  • Aluminum foil optional for easy clean up
  • 1 large wire rack
  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • 1 spoon
  • 1 basting brush

Ingredients

  • 4-4½ lbs chicken drumsticks I buy the family pack
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup 18-Minute Paleo BBQ Sauce* (divided) or your favorite BBQ sauce
  • ¾ cup orange marmalade** (divided)
  • 3 tablespoon hot sauce*** divided

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425℉. Cover the baking sheet with aluminum foil and top with wire rack if desired. Place chicken drumsticks in a single layer on baking sheet or wire rack. Sprinkle all sides evenly with salt.
  • Mix ½ cup BBQ sauce, ½ cup orange marmalade, and 1½ tablespoon hot sauce. Use a basting brush to coat each drumstick evenly with this mixture. Place on the top rack of the oven and bake 32 minutes.
  • While chicken bakes, in a clean bowl mix ¼ cup BBQ sauce, ¼ cup orange marmalade, and 1½ tablespoon hot sauce.
  • Remove chicken from oven. Using a clean basting brush, brush BBQ mixture evenly over the tops of the chicken drumsticks. Place back on the top rack of the oven and cook 2-3 minutes until glaze is caramelized and sticky and an internal meat thermometer reads 165℉. Serve warm.
