  • Remove from oven and let cool in pans until cool enough to touch about 10 minutes. Carefully remove donuts from pans and place on cooling racks until completely cool about 10 more minutes.
  • While donuts cook, make the frosting. In a medium mixing bowl, sift powdered sugar and cacao powder. Add a pinch of salt. Add 2 teaspoon pure vanilla. Add 2 tablespoon of almond milk (save the other 2 for now). Mix together with a whisk or fork.
  • Add melted butter and continue to mix together with whisk or fork. Add remaining almond milk ½ tablespoon at a time. You don't need to add all the almond milk, stop when when the frosting is a thick creamy consistency. Add to a small piping bag or use a spoon to frost the donuts.
  • Using a piping bag or a spoon to divide the frosting evenly among each donut. Use a butter knife or butter spreader to smooth the frosting over the donuts. Top with sprinkles or chopped nuts and serve at room temperature.

Notes

*I use light olive oil or melted coconut oil.
